The Problem

Initial assessments by the client’s consulting engineer suggested potential non-compliance with design specifications. A detailed GPR concrete scan was required to confirm slab thickness, reinforcement placement, and to identify any deficiencies that could compromise performance and safety.

Our Approach

Concrete Scanning Investigation

  • Conducted high-resolution Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning across wet areas of the ground slab.
  • Identified sections of the slab below the required design thickness, confirming the need for targeted remediation.
  • Worked directly with the consulting engineer to validate findings and assist in the development of a remedial strategy.

Execution of Remedial Works

  • Selective demolition of the defective slab while preserving existing structural footings and foundations.
  • Installation of new reinforcement strictly in accordance with the engineer’s design and specification.
  • Placement and curing of a new compliant concrete slab pour, restoring structural adequacy across the affected areas.

  • Onsite monitoring and QA documentation throughout demolition, reinforcement installation, and concrete placement.

THE SOLUTION

The remediation process successfully rectified the undersized slab sections, restoring compliance with the engineering design and Australian Standards.
